Some like it whimsy: Handpainted chair & stool renewal
This fun, hand-painted chair and footstool set are for my client’s master bathroom. The room itself is primarily neutrals making these pieces pop with character and color. The hand-painting is original and left alone; while the old, faded fabric and insides were replaced with new materials and this lively lime chevron fabric. Double cording all around finishes it off.
Now, you might think (like I did) oh, this will be a snap! A quick tear-it-apart and put new fabric on! Haha…well, not quite. It took me 3 hours just to take these apart. What seemed like thousands of old tacks and staples from previous upholstery jobs needed to come out if I was to have room to re-construct. The insides were in such bad shape they were literally disintegrating into powder. Both pieces needed to be completely rebuilt from the frame up. This is the work you don’t see when you look at a finished piece…but makes all the difference in the quality and longevity of your furniture.
